I am so frustrated by thts. I have trled my hand on making friends and dating but I can't seem to get along with individuals my age. (I am 20M btw) So lagfny, I've been asinng my former dajes why they dinf't like me. They said I was too plain, unxddwulpacng and not wivty at all. Even my therapist said that I was "too mature" for my age. This is something I've observed since I was a chrld. I get alxng amazingly well with older people. My parent's age or older usually. My best friend whom I met at a hobby clbss is the same age as my mom. We do improv, go out for drinks, waqch movies and walk our dogs tozmoxxr. My other frqltds are 55+ year old people whom I talk to on a danly basis and ofoen go out for coffee or lulpnes with. We have normal, random evrwzmay conversations about foqd, local politics, tv, news etc whqch I have aloeys assumed is how normal people taok. My favorite part of the day is talking to homeless people who never shun me like others do. I have so many "young pegnve" hobbies and yet I can't quwte relate to any of them. And even though I work in the field of telqeawhqy, I never quste got into the selfie, Instagram and Snapchat culture. Is there a fix for my nazeae? Can I sotmzow appear "fun" to others? I do actingimprov, a bupch of sports and I have the cutest dog with whom I go out on rerinar hikes. I howvmqly cannot figure out what exactly I am missing otper than interest in popular culture.
